PRAYER FOR THE PEOPLE OF VENEZUELA
Loving God,
When the earth trembles and homes fall to dust, hold our hearts, God.
When grief shakes families to the core, hold our hearts, God.
Send our hands and feet to help however we can.
Our sisters and brothers in Venezuela live this now.
God of love and mercy, may we match your love in the way we respond – now.

I offer this verse for the summer weeks ahead, as all of us, whether of school age or not, live, I hope, a little differently. May it be an opportunity to lay before God the things that really matter; to be refreshed and renewed, restored for all that lies ahead in the year to come.

Please can you ensure the gates, which lead into the cottages, are pulled shut behind you on a Sunday after the service, to ensure any children playing in the garden are not able to run out into the drive way.

LITTLE PEBBLES
Little Pebbles, for babies, pre-schoolers and their carers, meets every Tues 10-11.30am during term-time in the Cottages. The next session is Tues 8th September.

Patrick, the website owner, and some friends have visited a total of 201 churches. As well as photographing the churches themselves, they look out for interesting headstones, especially those of armed services personnel. If anyone has questions or comments about the photographs of these beautiful, historic churches, Patrick can be contacted via the website.

Churchyard Maintenance
Please contact Brad via the Parish Office if you help with grass cutting or other jobs.
St. Peter’s Living Churchyard
You might notice that some areas of grass are being left to grow longer this spring and summer. This is part of an intentional effort to create a sanctuary for both people and nature. By changing how we mow, we are transforming these areas into a haven for local biodiversity.
Why are we doing this?
Supporting Pollinators
Longer grass allows native wildflowers like clovers, daisies, and buttercups to bloom, providing vital food for bees and butterflies.
Creating Shelters
The taller vegetation offers essential shelter and nesting sites for birds, hedgehogs, and helpful insects.
Protecting Heritage
This traditional management style mirrors historical meadows, helping us care for this sacred space sustainably.
Our Commitment to Visitors
We understand the deep personal importance of this churchyard. Please be reassured that:
- Main paths and seating areas will remain neatly mown for easy access.
- Frequently visited graves and memorial areas will continue to be regularly tended.
- The long grass will be fully cut and cleared in late summer once the wildflowers have dropped their seeds.
Please get in touch if you are finding it difficult to visit a grave so we can mow a pathway for you.
