The Flower Guild of St Peters consists of 15-18 ladies, all keen flower arrangers, who enjoy the opportunity to decorate the church on a weekly basis, apart from the periods of Advent and Lent when the church is left bare.
The weekly arrangements are limited in number but we have the opportunity to decorate the entire building at festival times – Christmas, Easter and Harvest Festival and we also do special arrangements for Epiphany, Pentecost, Ascension, our patronal festival at Petertide, Mothering Sunday and Remembrance Sunday.
Each year we have a number of weddings at St Peter’s and we undertake to arrange special flowers on these occasions to co-ordinate with the bride’s colour scheme and choice of flowers. From time to time we are also asked to do an arrangement in a small window in memory of a departed loved one, and occasionally, special flowers for a funeral.
We arrange in church on Friday mornings at 9.30 am and at other times for Christmas and Easter.
All these commitments are very time consuming as well as enjoyable and we are always looking for new members to join the Guild. You only have to enjoy flower arranging within a friendly and welcoming group of ladies and do not have to be a regular church attender. If you are interested please contact us.
