PRAYER FOR THE PEOPLE OF NEPAL AND TIBET
Sarah Mullally, Archbishop of Canterbury
I am praying for all those affected by the devastating flash floods in Nepal and Tibet.
I pray for those who are grieving, and for those who are still waiting for news of their missing loved ones. I pray for the emergency workers in the region, operating in immensely difficult conditions to rescue people and bring relief. I pray too for those who are injured, and for the doctors and nurses working tirelessly to bring healing and rebuild lives.
Into the hands of our loving God, and in the name of Jesus Christ, I place all those who watch, wait and weep. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Please pray for peace and an end to war in Ukraine, Gaza, Sudan and Iran.
CONFLICT IN THE MIDDLE EAST

LITTLE PEBBLES
Little Pebbles, for babies, pre-schoolers and their carers, meets every Tues 10-11.30am during term-time in the Cottages. The next session is Tues 8th September.

Please can you ensure the gates, which lead into the cottages, are pulled shut behind you on a Sunday after the service, to ensure any children playing in the garden are not able to run out into the drive way.

LOCAL HISTORY SOCIETY
After the Summer break, Leckhampton Local History Society’s first meeting of the 2026-27 season will be on Tues 29th Sept. More details nearer the time.
SCHOOL GOVERNOR VACANCY
We are looking for a new Foundation Governor for Leckhampton C of E Primary School
Foundation governors are appointed by the Diocese of Gloucester and work with the Vicar of St. Peter’s to promote links between the school and the church, as well as serving alongside governors appointed by parents, staff and the local authority.
The usual term is up to 4 years with training provided. The time commitment is variable, approx. 4-6 hours/month (term time only).
Please speak to Rev Gary, or to one of the current Foundation Governors (Sue Laurence and Duncan Hughes), if you’re interested or would like to find out more.

‘GOLD’ AWARD
We did it……
We are delighted to announce that St Peter’s, Leckhampton, has been awarded the Eco Church ‘Gold Award’ by A Rocha.
Thank you to all involved on this 6 year journey, especially the Eco Team, led by Richard & Joey Kerr-Wilson, the PCC and to the whole congregation for their encouragement, commitment and support.
The assessors were particularly impressed by our gas-free church/cottages, with its under-pew heating and heat pump; the increased biodiversity documented in our re-wilded churchyard, and our support for local environmental and community projects.
We are now a beacon church for others as they continue their own eco journeys!

Creationtide at St Peter’s
The Church marks the ‘Season of Creation’ from 1st September to 4th October each year. Creationtide dedicates time to honour God as Creator and Sustainer of all life, and to renew our shared commitment to care for our common home. During this time, we will mark both Climate Sunday (13-Sep) and Harvest Sunday (4-Oct).
The theme for the Season of Creation 2026 is ‘Living Water’, based on Ezekiel 47:1-12. God’s life-giving water flows from the temple of God, growing deeper, restoring barren land, reviving waters, and sustaining flourishing eco-systems.
The vision invites human responsibility: recognising ecological damage, embracing interconnectedness, we are called to immerse ourselves in the water, and actively safeguarding and working for the renewal of creation so that environmental healing and human well-being may flourish together.
Fairtrade Fortnight – 21 Sept – 4 Oct
Fairtrade Fortnight is a time when people across the UK will come together to celebrate fairer trade and support the farmers, workers and communities behind the products we rely on every day. This year’s focus is Fair Pay, encouraging people to remember a simple truth: fair pay matters because everyone deserves the chance to live well. However we earn a living, we all deserve to be paid fairly. Supporting Fairtrade helps support fairer pay for the farmers and workers behind the products we love.
FRIDAY LUNCH WITH FRIENDS
We are pleased to be hosting another season of Friday Lunches starting on FRIDAY 18 SEPT, 12.30 – 2pm at 1 Vineries Close. Please note that this date is slightly earlier in the month than usual.
