REST IN PEACE

A former St Peter’s Parishioner, Maureen Perris, has died recently. Her family are asking if they all can be remembered on 11^th October, the day of her funeral.

Please pray for the thousands of people who have lost loved ones, homes, are injured and in need of urgent emergency assistance. We also remember the rescue workers and those who are working to alleviate people’s suffering.

HOMELESS AWARENESS

During Homeless Awareness Week (8-15 Oct) and especially on World Homeless Day (10 Oct)

Almighty God, our refuge and strength, in whose image we are all made; you are home to any who are in need or trouble. Inspire us with the spirit of Jesus’s love; and empower us to work for change; direct our actions towards those who need comfort, shelter and sanctuary; and draw us more into fellowship with one another and with you. Amen.

CHORAL WORKSHOP

James Gilchrist will be presenting a choral workshop of popular choral classics. All singers are welcome to join in. It is being organised by Charlton Kings Choral Society, and more details can be found at: ckcsonline.org.uk

LICENSING SERVICE

Thursday 12th October, 7.30pm at St. Christopher’s, Warden Hill

Revd Lauren Gate will be licensed by Archdeacon Phil Andrew as the Associate Priest and Missioner for Warden Hill.

JUNIOR CHURCH

Children – pre-schoolers and juniors – There are things to do in
the carpeted area and on the activities table each week in church.

The next first Sunday service is All Saints United on 5th November at 10am.

REFRESHMENTS ROSTER

The new rota covering November to January is now on the board in the Cottages. If you can help with refreshments after the 10am service occasionally, please add your name to the list. CCP FOOD COLLECTIONS

Many thanks to the wonderful and generous congregation at St Peters. The donations for CCP at the Harvest Festival service on the 1st October amounted to 111.2kgs, over 50% more than last year! SHOEBOX APPEAL 2023

This year’s appeal is now under way. Last year the charity delivered over 26,000 Christmas shoeboxes to some of the most impoverished people in Bulgaria, Moldova, Romania and Ukraine. If you’d like to contribute a shoebox of small gifts, please pick up a leaflet (one per shoebox) from the back of church or download here. The leaflet provides full instructions for filling and sealing your shoebox, but if you need more information, see www.linktohope.co.uk, or contact Steve Whittingham (07514 986386 or steve_whittingham@btinternet.com). Completed shoeboxes will be collected from church up to and including Sun 29^th Oct.

SOUTH CHELTENHAM YOUTH

South Cheltenham Youth is for 11-19 year olds.

• 11-16s – meet on Tuesdays during term time at Emmanuel Church, GL53 7NT from 7-8.30pm.
• 16-19s – meet on Weds during term time at
  St Peter’s Cottages, GL53 0QJ from 7-8.30pm.

Knitting Project

Calling all knitters! CaBiC are asking for people to knit mini stockings which will be given out to care home residents at Christmas. You can download the pattern here or pick up a copy at the back of church.  We should be grateful for all stockings to be ready for filling by Fri 1^st Dec! 1685 – A Golden Year: 16.85 hours of music by composers born that year (Bach, Handel, Scarlatti) and music written that year!  Includes a woodwind concert 11.30am-12pm, Kit and Emma Perona-Wright 2.30-3pm, Fiona’s Lollipops 1.30-2pm, demonstration of clavichord 2pm, Handel/Bach choruses 4.15-5.15pm and much, much more.  Do drop in any time.
