Prayer Requests

Please continue to pray for peace and an end to violence in Gaza and the Holy Land.

Please continue to pray for peace and keep all those affected by the war in Ukraine in your prayers.

The final phase of re-ordering will take place between 8-Jan and 15-Mar, during which time the church will be closed. Please see info sheet with details of services during that time.

There will be a special performance of Stainer’s Crucifixion at 6pm on Passion Sunday (17th March) to celebrate our return to St. Peter’s.

JUNIOR CHURCH

Children – pre-schoolers and juniors – There are things to do in
the carpeted area and on the activities table each week in church.

The next 1st Sunday service will be ‘We 3 Kings’ on 7th January!

LITTLE PEBBLES

Many thanks to all who have given to CCP over 2023, whether this is by items left in the box in the porch, or direct monetary contributions.

During December a total of 64.7kgs of food and an additional 24.6kgs of items in the Hamper Scamper box was taken to CCP. The grand total for the year which also includes regular items collected during the Lent appeal, the Harvest Festival & Hamper Scamper amounts to 969.3kgs. Your generosity is greatly appreciated by CCP and the recipients of your gifts.

Whilst St Peter’s is closed for reordering, the CCP collection box will be found in the entrance hall to the Cottages.

Christmas Tree Recycling

Local council Christmas tree drop off points:

  • Swindon Road Recycling Centre – drop off anytime during opening hours.

Then, from 2nd to 15th January 2024 trees will be collected and recycled from here:

  • Cheltenham Racecourse
    New Barn Lane, Cheltenham, GL52 3LT.
  • Cheltenham Town Football Club
    Whaddon Road, Cheltenham, GL52 5NA.
  • Old Patesians RFC
    Everest Road, Cheltenham, GL53 9LG .
  • Cheltenham B&Q
  • Golden Valley retail park, Hatherley Lane, Cheltenham, GL51 6TA.

Christmas trees should be free of lights, decorations, pots or stands. Trees up to five feet (1.5 metres) tall can be left out whole. Trees larger than this need to be cut down before being put out for collection.

Churchyard Maintenance

If you can spare an hour or two every so often, to help with grass cutting and other jobs around the churchyard, then please let Brad know via the Parish Office.

The rowan tree planting in the churchyard has been delayed – we will let you know a new planting date shortly.

Three meetings to discuss three plays by Shakespeare through the lens of religion:

  • 21 Feb:    Richard II – POWER
  • 14 Mar:  The Tempest – FORGIVENESS

CRAFT GROUP

The Craft Group meets on Wednesdays at 10am in the
Cottages. All are welcome to join, even if just for a ‘cuppa’ and a chat.

We will continue to provide the following services between 8th Jan and 15th March:

  • 8am Holy Communion services in the Church Cottages on the 2nd and 4th Sundays.
  • 10am Holy Communion services at St. Stephen’s on the 1st and 3rd Sundays.

There is a 10am service at all of the other churches each Sunday; there is also an 8am Holy Communion service at Pip & Jim’s on a 1st Sunday and at Emmanuel on a 3rd Sunday.
