Please continue to pray for peace and keep all those affected by the war in Ukraine in your prayers.

MIDDLE EAST

Please also pray for a cessation of tensions and violence in the Middle East.

RE-ORDERING OF THE CHURCH BUILDING

The final phase of re-ordering will take place between 8-Jan and 15-Mar, during which time the church will be closed. Please see info sheet with details of services during that time.

PARISH OFFICE OPEN

The Parish Office will be open on Mon 19^th & Thurs 22^nd Feb 9.30 am-1.30 pm if you need to visit in person.

DATE FOR YOUR DIARIES

There will be a special performance of Stainer’s Crucifixion at 6pm on Passion Sunday (17^th March) to celebrate our return to St. Peter’s.

COTTAGES PAINT PARTY!

Could you join a group to repaint the main room of the Cottages? Walls to be emulsioned, paintwork glossed.

Carbon Fast for Lent

This Lent, we encourage you to take up our Lent challenge – living more simply and finding new ways to cut your carbon footprint.
How the Carbon Fast works:
Beginning on 14th Feb, you will receive a weekly email containing some key facts, suggestions for how you could reduce your carbon footprint, and a prayer. Sign up for the 2024 Carbon Fast for Lent at:

MIDWEEK HOLY COMMUNION

The next midweek Holy will be at 10.30am on Tue 20^th Feb at St Christopher’s and will be followed by refreshments.

CCP FOOD COLLECTIONS

Over the past few years there has been a special Lent appeal for CCP where during the run up to Easter, instead of giving something up for Lent, an item of food is donated to CCP for each day. With St Peter’s being closed for much of this period this might prove to be a challenge this year. However, donations can be left at the cottages, and I will collect them on a regular basis. Please check the weekly newsletter to see when they are likely to be open. I am more than happy to collect from your home if this is preferable, just drop me an email. Alternatively please save your items up until the church reopens nearer to Easter. Many thanks. Gilly Whittingham

CRAFT GROUP

Every Weds, 10-12 in the Cottages

On Wed 21^st Feb, the Craft Group will be visited by local silk painting artist Angela Tomkins who will be sharing her journey through Co-vid to successful artist. All are welcome to join, even if just for a ‘cuppa’ and a chat. Please contact Helen Shill for details on 07580 637767.

AN INTRODUCTION TO QIGONG

A gentle mindful stretching practice. Come as you are, in comfortable clothing, flat shoes.

* SERVICES DURING REORDERING *

We will continue to provide the following services between 8^th Jan and 15^th March:

• 8am Holy Communion services in the Church Cottages on the 2^nd and 4^th Sundays.

• 10am Holy Communion services at St. Stephen’s on the 1^st and 3^rd Sundays.

Please do continue to connect with the service you are most used to and, when there isn’t one that week, please take the opportunity to join in with the worship at one of the other churches in the South Cheltenham Team:

There is a 10am service at all of the other churches each Sunday; there is also an 8am Holy Communion service at Pip & Jim’s on a 1^st Sunday and at Emmanuel on a 3^rd Sunday.

Please let a Churchwarden know if you would like help with transport during this time.

NEW CURATE

We are pleased to announce that Robert Atkin will start his curacy at CNC Emmanuel in July. He is due to be ordained in Gloucester Cathedral on Sun 30th June. Please continue to pray for Rob, and for Becky and Lottie, as he completes his studies – particularly for the dissertation.

‘LENT THROUGH THE LENS’ – An evening with Dr Jane Williams

Wed 21^st Feb, 7.30–9pm at St Christopher’s, Warden Hill

Dr Jane Williams is the McDonald Professor in Christian Theology at St Mellitus College. She was also a visiting Lecturer in Theology at King’s College London, having previously taught at Trinity College Bristol. She is an experienced editor, is regularly invited to teach and speak all over the world, and is involved in promoting theological education in other parts of the Anglican Communion. She is married to Rowan, and they have two children. Jane will be exploring the theme of Lent via Art. Come along for an inspiring evening. REVEREND JADE SCHOLES

Please join me in welcoming Rev Jade Scholes back to the South Cheltenham Team as an Associate Priest. Jade will be licensed by Bishop Robert in the Lady Chapel at Gloucester Cathedral on Tuesday 27th February at 12.30pm; all are welcome to attend. Thereafter, she will be based at St. Peter’s.
