MOTHERING SUNDAY CAKE
Please come along to the Cottages after the 10am service on Sunday and enjoy a piece of Simnel cake with your coffee.
In Victorian times it was a day when children, (mainly daughters, who had gone to work as domestic servants), were given the day off to visit their mother and family. They often took a cake they had baked themselves called a ‘mothering cake’ or simnel cake.
A very big ‘thank you’ to Suzy Hime who has again kindly made our simnel cake, helping us to keep this old tradition alive.

I am more than happy to collect from your home, just drop me an email to gilly_whittingham@btinternet.com
