Planning a wedding?  Congratulations! We welcome your enquiry about getting married at St Peter’s. Please contact us on 01242 513647 or on parishofficeleckhampton@btinternet.com to discuss any questions you might have and to book an appointment with the vicar.

If you would like to know more about being married in a church you will find a lot of information on the Church of England website.

The guidance below relates specifically to St Peters.

Wedding Banns

Wedding banns are an announcement in church of your intention to get married.  At St Peter’s, the banns are read out on the first three Sundays of the month before the Wedding.  As well as being a legal requirement, your banns readings are special public occasions when people in church hear about your upcoming wedding and remember you in prayer. It’s an exciting and happy time, so you’re welcome to invite your family and friends to hear your banns too, if you’d like.

You will also need to arrange to have them called in the parish or parishes in which you live.  The parish priest in that parish will provide you with a Certificate of Banns that you will need send to the Parish Office prior to the wedding.

The Parish Office can provide you with a breakdown of the full costs involved in planning a wedding here at St Peter’s.

Flowers for your wedding

We do ask that you use the Flower Guild at St Peter’s for your flowers in church. The Guild will be able to arrange flowers for your wedding or Service of Blessing. This service is offered at a fixed cost per arrangement, which includes the cost of the flowers and a small donation to the Flower Guild.  If you would like more information about what the Flower Guild can offer for your special day, the Parish Office can provide you with information and give you the contact details for the Flower Guild coordinator in order to discuss colour, types of flower, foliage, and placement.

If you’d like to take advantage of this service, please arrange your consultation with the Flower Guild Coordinator at least six weeks before your wedding so that we can provide you with the best possible service.

Music at your wedding

Music is a vital and integral part of your wedding service, and needs careful consideration.  The Parish Office can provide you with an information sheet with suggestions for hymns and music to be played at the entrance of the bride, at the signing of the registers, and as you leave the church.  However, most couples find it helpful to arrange a consultation with our Director of Music to finalise their selection of music. Consultations usually take place in the church, giving you the opportunity to hear how various pieces sound on our organ. This service is provided at no extra charge and he is happy to recommend CDs of appropriate music. Please arrange an appointment with  the Director of Music, through the Parish Office,  to discuss your requirements.

Baptism (Christening) or Thanksgiving for children

If you’re thinking about a wedding at St Peter’s and you already  have children with your partner or from a previous relationship,  you might like to consider a service that allows you to give God thanks for your children or have them baptised (christened) at the same service.  Please get in touch with the Parish Office if you’d like to find out more about this option.

St Peter’s Wedding Photo Album

A number of couples who have got married at St Peter’s have kindly sent us some of their wedding photos to display on the church website.  If you would like your wedding photo to be included here, please send a copy to the Parish Office.
