Matthew 6.9-14
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.
What is prayer? How, when, why do we do it?
- One of the ways of talking to God is by praying
- There are lots of different types of prayer, including:
- Intercession [prayers which are said to God for us]
- Meditation [silent prayer]
- Daily prayer [which we say on our own during the day]
- During a service we say lots of prayers, but we always say the special prayer that Jesus taught us, which is called the Lord’s Prayer.
The Lord’s Prayer
Thanks-Sorry-Please
When we pray we do 3 things:
- We say Thank you
- We say Sorry
- We say Please
- See if you can spot these as we SAY the Lord’s Prayer.
- So when you pray, think about including: Thanks-Sorry-Please (TSP).
- To help you remember, think of a teaspoon (TSP).
